20 Websites with Beautiful Typography

As an experience design guy I tend to think that aesthetics and branding are all fine and good as long as they don't get in the way of the purpose of the site, support what the user wants/needs to do. Typography is where those two ideologies collide - clarity and simplicity are usable. there are some exceptions where types is pushed to the limits of discernability but for the most part it's a discipline of clarity. Six Revisions has posted 20 sites that use type in clear yet interesting ways. It's no surprise that many are design sites, but still, good is good....let them pave the way.

Touch and Go

Catchy title no? Canada's theglobeandmail.com has posted a nice piece on the predominance of touch screen technology at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) show in Las Vegas. The piece quotes ex-Ameritarde/Datek/Adaptive Path and current principal of interaction design San Francisco, Ca.'s Kicker Studio: “Manipulating things with fingers is something people have been doing for 100,000 years. It's much more natural than manipulating with a mouse or keyboard or stylus.”
